In 1989,
the Boden family started Handlebars, a rustic 1800’s style restaurant & saloon, museum, and mercantile nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountain Range in the turn-of-the century old mining town of Silverton, Colorado.
Handlebars is a rendezvous spot for tourists, locals, and the occasional celebrity who enjoy dinning or just relaxing in an 1800’s western atmosphere with old west collectibles, rustic wooden floors, and mining memorabilia. The old West atmosphere embraces you the moment you walk through the front door as you are immediately greeted by "Wilderness Willy", Handlebars infamous wooden miner and Ken’s collection of mounted wild animals ranging from Grizzly Bears and Wolves to Armadillos and Raccoons.
Handlebars has developed a World-Famous reputation for its exceptional food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, outstanding service, old west decor and jokes! Don't be surprised if our staff remembers you by name, if not reputation!
The Handlebars "Mustache" – a western male tradition was used to keep the face warm, hide missing teeth, or tickle the lips of the ladies! If our Handlebars crew deems your "Stash" worthy, we will take your picture, have you autograph it and hang it on the bar or any other spot sporting other famous "Stashes"!
